A- Take a photo with your kids crouching on a table (You don't
have to glue him on a pole!) Remove the background,
rotate the body... duplicate
and tilt the head for a more dramatic effect!
B- Add shadows (Burn Tool
) to the legs and on the pole. The background image came from
a stock photo. Once you are satisfied with your image, add a
circle mask
, and a black keyline around it.
C- Add your favorite image. - Mine came from the web (it had
to be cleaned up & the background was removed). You might
want to add a drop shadow.
D- The "unsharp mask" was used on
the Marvel logo to clean it up.
E- Find or create your title, add a black stroke and a red drop
shadow to it.
Use >Filter>Pixelate>Color Halftone
to re-create the printed dots from a comic.
F- Generate a (Blue to darker blue) Gradient to the background.
Use >Filter>Sketch>Halftone Pattern to
create the big dotted pattern. Add a gradient from (bottom-right
corner) for a better blend with the paper curl.
G- The paper curl was created manually (you could also use KPT3).
Add a gradient
and shadows.
H- Add Comic image behind the curl.
The font for the textbox was Masked Marvel Bold.
(Pause!) At this point flatten the image, Open a new (and final
file) and move your comic book over.
I- Rotate and and add a bevel to your book.
J- Add Highlights and shadows to enhance the 3D feel.
K-
The staples were created by doing two "soft edge"
circles (with an outer bevel) and a thin line with a metal bevel
and shadow was added on a second layer.
And
finally... an already colorful image usually called for a neutral
background, that's why I went for the "bad scanner"
look.
