Silk Screen (Andy Warhol Style)
Andy Warhol used a process
called photo silkscreen, transfering an image to film, then
the film was burned onto a screen using a strong light. Some
of his famous portraits include: Marilyn Monroe, The Can of
Soup and Ernesto Che Guevara.
For
more on Andy Warhol you can visit the Andy
Warhol Museum.

1. Extract the subject
from the background (You can skip this step if the background
is pure white).
2. Go to >Image>Adjustments>Threshold and
move the slider until you get a good looking image.
3. Duplicate this layer and Fill with white.
4. Go back to the black and white layer and remove the white.
>Select>Color Range... Select the White, hit
OK.. then Delete.
5 . Create a new layer and fill it with a color.
You
should have three layers at this point. and you'll be able to
modify the color of each "screen". I prefer to use
the Color Overlay Layer Filter, but any technique should work.
6 . Make multiple versions and place on your layout. (this color
scheme is based on the "Che Guevara"
Painting)
Click
Here to download a PSD that will show you the 3 Layers used
for this trick.

For a more colorfull version you can use Cutout Filter (>Filter>Artistic>Cutout)
