Seamless Patterns (Basic Concept)
This is a very quick walktrough to a good old classic trick.
With the Offset filter you'll be able to create patterns for
a web page or the background for a layout. |
 |
|
1.
Open a new image (100x100 pixels)
2. Draw a shape in the center.
|
 |
| 3.
Using the >Fillter>Other>Offset, move
the shape (use 50 pixels and make sure the "wrap around"
option is checked). |
 |
| You
should get something like this |
 |
4.
Add an second shape in the middle.
5. When using a complex pattern you can also fix the "seams"
with the Clone Stamp Tool. |
 |
| At
this point you can either save the file as a jpg for the web or
create a pattern to use in Photoshop. |
To
Save the pattern:
1. Flatten the image.
2. >Edit>Define Pattern
3. Name it and Click "OK" |
|
To
use the pattern:
1. On a new Layer or Selection, go to >Edit>Fill
2. Change "Contents>Use" to "Pattern"
3. Click the "Custom Pattern" drop-down menu to select
your pattern.
4. Click ok |
