Seamless Patterns (Basic Concept)
This is a very quick walktrough to a good old classic trick. With the Offset filter you'll be able to create patterns for a web page or the background for a layout.

1. Open a new image (100x100 pixels)
2. Draw a shape in the center.

3. Using the >Fillter>Other>Offset, move the shape (use 50 pixels and make sure the "wrap around" option is checked).
You should get something like this
4. Add an second shape in the middle.
5. When using a complex pattern you can also fix the "seams" with the Clone Stamp Tool.
At this point you can either save the file as a jpg for the web or create a pattern to use in Photoshop.

To Save the pattern:
1. Flatten the image.
2. >Edit>Define Pattern
3. Name it and Click "OK"

To use the pattern:
1. On a new Layer or Selection, go to >Edit>Fill
2. Change "Contents>Use" to "Pattern"
3. Click the "Custom Pattern" drop-down menu to select your pattern.
4. Click ok

Send me your Patterns and I'll post them here to share.
To use the Patterns: Right click to save and open in Photoshop or use as a tile for your webpage.
