Photo Restoration
This
can't be a step by step guide, as every project is different
but I'll add new ideas and trick every time I think about them. |

|
| Rule
Number One: Save often! |
| 1.
Start with a good scan: use the highest resolution possible from
your scanner. |
2.
Move on to the easy clean up: large cracks or stains. You can
use the Patch Tool ,
The Healing brush ,
Clone Stamp tool ,
or a brush
set to color mode.
TIP: Clone to get the missing color, then Heal to get the texture.
TIP: Change the opacity of the Cloning Tool to avoid heavy repetition
patterns. |
| 3.
Fix smaller details and imperfections, the Healing brush and Clone
Stamp should be your best friends by now. |
4.
Use >Noise>Dust & Scratches on a
duplicate layer. |
| 5.
Make copies of parts you like or use the Liquify
Tool. |
| 6.
Adjust the Levels or Curves
(read those two articles) |
| 7.
You'll most likely need to adjust some Colors
and/or Soften the Skin. |
| 8.
You may also use the Vignette trick |
| 9.
You might want to turn your photo into sepia
or a vintage photo. |
| 10.
Sometimes you simply have to add noise to make it look better. |

your time, Save often and be patient... |
